TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio teenager who bludgeoned her adult boyfriend's mother to death with a rock after giving him an ultimatum to kill her has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years. Her boyfriend, who helped dispose of his mother's body, received the same sentence. Kaitlyn Coones, 18, and Jonathon Jones, 34, pleaded no contest on June 4 to aggravated murder and abuse of a corpse in the 2023 death of 53-year-old Nicole Jones, according to Lucas County Prosecutor Julia Bates. Prosecutors said Coones, who was 17 at the time of the murder and had been living with the Jones family, admitted to killing Nicole on April 19, 2023, because she felt Nicole disapproved of her relationship with Jonathon. The sentencing comes after a Bowie County jury deliberated for just over an hour, concluding Parker’s trial which had captivated the region with its shocking details and subsequent jailhouse drama.
