A Mother's Tragedy: The Heartbreaking Tale of Deshaun Martinez

In a chilling and heart-rending courtroom scene in Flagstaff, Arizona, Elizabeth Archibeque, a mother plagued by a troubled past, faced the consequences of her actions as she was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. The courtroom was heavy with sorrow as witnesses recounted the horrors that unfolded within the confines of a tiny closet, a prison of neglect and starvation for her two young sons.

Deshaun Martinez, the innocent 6-year-old victim, met a tragic fate in 2020, succumbing to severe starvation at a mere 18 pounds in weight. His lifeless body was discovered by authorities after an alarming 911 call from his grandmother, Ann Martinez. The details that emerged during the trial painted a grim picture of unimaginable suffering.

Archibeque's defense attorney, Christine Brown, made a plea for a parole possibility after 35 years, citing her client's remorse and guilty plea. However, Judge Ted Reed, despite acknowledging the genuine expression of remorse, determined that the cruelty and depravity of her actions warranted nothing short of a lifetime behind bars.

The courtroom was gripped by Detective Melissa Seay's testimony, who described the haunting scene she encountered in the family's apartment. The closet where the boys were confined reeked of urine and stood as a stark symbol of the inhumane treatment they endured. Deshaun's emaciated body and sunken face bore witness to the unimaginable suffering he endured.

As the trial progressed, it became evident that Deshaun's parents had attributed his malnourishment to a supposed medical condition and pill ingestion. Eventually, the truth emerged – the two boys were locked away in the closet for most of the day, with little food provided. Their heinous crime? Stealing food while their parents slept.

Blame was shared among the accused, as Archibeque's public defender pointed fingers at the boy's father and grandmother, who are facing separate trials for murder and child abuse charges.

The courtroom listened in sorrow as Archibeque took the stand, fully accepting her responsibility for her son's death. She expressed her deep remorse, a heart forever broken by the loss of her child.

Tragedy upon tragedy unfolded as the foster mother who took in Deshaun's siblings shared the lasting scars left on the surviving brother and sisters. One brother remained traumatized about food and eating, his hunger a constant fear, while his sister believed she had saved them both, carrying the burden of her brothers' pain.

Behind this tragic tale lies a backdrop of addiction, a traumatic upbringing, and mental struggles. Archibeque's defense attorney attempted to shed light on her client's history, suggesting she felt powerless under the influence of drugs and the weight of abuse inflicted upon her.

In a final act of compassion, the court chose to seal pre-sentencing documents to protect the privacy of the other children involved. The focus shifted to providing them with a safe and nurturing environment as they rebuild their shattered lives.

The verdict has been delivered, justice has been served, but the pain lingers on. The story of Deshaun Martinez serves as a haunting reminder of the responsibilities society bears to protect its most vulnerable, to offer support and understanding to those lost in the depths of despair. May this tragedy spur us to prevent such heartbreak from touching other innocent lives.

Darlie Routier Texas

I was contacted by a penpal of Darlie Routier's who gave me some of the most recent advances in her case to share with you all. I began writing to Darlie in December of 2005 and she is one woman whom I will never understand how she got behind bars. Really. You know what else? With all the information ALREADY out there about this case, in addition to the newly discovered info, I think if you can't see this poor woman's innocence, you may just be an asshole. So many legal flubs, so much question and police innuendo that turned out to be nothing. So many fingers pointed and road blocks thrown up, I am surprised this case isn't used in other countries to point to the clusterfuck we call a justice system.  I believe Darlie could have been released ages ago if the state had done the necessary DNA testing. Sadly, Texas has tried to stop it in every unconstitutional way they could pull out of a bull's ass. BUT- there is hope on the horizon. This from Camp Darlie

The Most Beautiful Girls to Ever Kill Their Own Mother

As human beings, we have trouble fathoming the idea of a young girl committing so atrocious a crime as murder. Much less, the murder of her own mother. The concept becomes even more inconceivable when it pertains to a beautiful young woman beautiful young woman with a loving family and the world at her fingertips. These girls aren't all women in prison now. Some have been released and disappeared into the mainstream. Scary, huh?  Nakisha Waddell     At age 14, Nakisha Waddell stabbed her mother, Vaughne Thomas, 43 times in their Virginia home. In court, she said she was tired of the years of fighting and just exploded. Her 15-year-old friend, Annie Belcher, helped her dig a grave in the backyard. The pair poured alcohol and nail polish remover on the dead woman and tried to ignite her to no avail.  They eventually mixed a crude concrete mixture and poured it on top of her and finished by covering her with sticks, leaves, and yard debris. She gives no reason or excuse o

Brenda Andrew Execution date

Brenda Andrew is the only woman on Oklahoma death row. She is there for the murder of her husband by her and her boyfriend James Pavatt.      Brenda does not answer letters. It seems she may still have a bit of that pretentious attitude left over from her days as a respected deacons wife. Those days are over, hun.      There is no scheduled execution date for Brenda yet. Oklahoma lists its dates of execution for the prison she is in here .      Every time I read about this case I am utterly amazed at how stupid these two people were. She may as well have advertised their guilt on a billboard in front of the house. Both Andrew's and Pavatt's appeal were systematically denied without comment in 2008. The little Scorned episode "The Sunday School Killers" at the top of this post is about Brenda and James and its only $1.99 so its worth the money.
