Jessica Helen Hampton, 18 and Breez Breann Collier, 24, both of Killeen, were arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and were charged with murder on Sunday, June 21, 2020 police said. They are accused of capital murder in a deadly shooting with robbery as the motive. Also involved, and arrested, is a 15-year-old boy.   The charges stem from the June 14 shooting death of Shareef Raekwon Ali-Barnett, 24. He died at the scene where officers found him at approximately 2 a.m. June 14. He was lying in the street at the intersection of Florence Road and Evergreen Drive with a gunshot wound. His pockets had been turned out. Investigators also uncovered his cell phone at the scene and discovered that just after 1 a.m. on June 14 Ali-Barnett used a website to search for an escort listed by the name of “Raina” and then used a texting app to make a deal “for money and drugs in exchange for oral sex,” the affidavits read. Police found the body of Makayla Jean Massey, 18, shot to death on the shoulder of Avenue 53 in Coachella, California on June 25 th , 2019.   Alexis Daniel Rosas of San Diego and Maury Duarte of Indio were arrested five days later. It is Alexis Rosas who is accused of lying in wait and shooting Makayla to keep her from testifying in a trial. He had been arrested four months earlier on fraud charges. Maury Duarte aided and abetted him but is still charged with murder. Riverside County Superior Court Judge Burke Strunsky accepted the defendants' pleas of not guilty in court this month and scheduled a trial-readiness conference for Oct. 13. They were ordered to stand trial last month following a preliminary hearing in which Judge John Monterosso found that prosecutors had submitted appropriate evidence to proceed with the case. In May, I received an email from Alyssa Bustamante's account saying she was in lockdown and would be for some time. The email was written by a friend, saying Alyssa had asked me to send her word searches and crosswords, etc. I finally got that all together and sent it off this week. I only hear from her once in a while.  I heard from Whitney Grey via Jpay. She has been quarantined after testing positive. She has since recovered but the whole prison is quarantined to their own cells. Morgan Smith has A LOT to say about the conditions in her prison. I will post that email from her this week.  That's about it for inmate correspondence this month. I’ve just begun watching Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story. I am one of those folks who are on the fence about Betty. I have been in her shoes. The gaslighting she endured was particularly familiar. I know what she felt but I know murder wasn’t the answer. At the same time, its been proven that those types of situations, love triangles, callous treatment of the jaded wife, can, and often do, end up with the other woman and the callous husband dead as hell.  I can’t help but feel like it’s a rather harsh punishment for being a dick but punishment it is. Gaslighting is real. It works, but it can get the manipulator killed in the long run. It’s a dangerous manipulative mind game.
