I was in the garden box this morning, quite pleased with myself for the ginormous Serano Pepper I grew (read: all by myself) with my Kindle Fire tablet beside me. I usually listen to classical or some other calming music when I'm out in the yard. I feel like it adds to my outdoor experience at times. It helps keep my mind in the moment and not wandering back to work even though my body is active and outdoors. Today I had the local news playing in the background when I heard the newscaster say something about a man and woman involved in the murder of another Nashville couple. Wow. One couple killed another couple. Wow, weird. Why? How? And I was off.....
Brandon Griswold and Whitney Gray
Here we have one Whitney Gray, who, along with her boyfriend Brandon Griswold, killed Preston Claybrooks and Alexandria Grubbs last September. Their battered bodies were found in unit A-3, shoved in a closet, at the Garden Howe Apartments. According to Nashville Police Detective Mike Roland, who testified in court, Gray and Griswold owed the other couple almost $700 for heroin. They didn't have the money to pay them so the two formulated a plan to murder them and hide the bodies.
Preston Claybrooks and Alexandra Grubbs
All four people lived together in East Nashville in Garden Howe Apartments. Police say at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Sept. 21 the offending couple entered the victim couples bedroom as they slept. They beat them immobile and then one of them slit their throats. They then wrapped them like mummies in their sheets and blankets and put them into the closet. They didn't think things through because they were the leaseholders on the apartment. It wasn't long before Claybrooks mom reported him missing and a few days later she called again to say the apartment was obviously stinking of death. The bodies were quickly discovered. Police were instantly searching for the other couple. They were located the following Monday afternoon after the killing with a homeless man near the Radnor Yard railroad depot.
Gray and Griswold were each indicted on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder, two counts of abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and theft over $500. Wow. My fiance and I go to dinner in Nashville A LOT. There isn't much to do in Small Town USA where we live about 60 miles south of the city. So, when we get out we like to make a big production out of it. We were there in April for the Country Living Fair. These people could have been right next to us on any given trip. Creepy.
And here's the Serrano pepper. I grew it. All by myself.
Hi! I just found your channel on youtube, and it led me here. Whitney was a long time partner of my brother's here in Tulsa OK. I started looking into the case again because its so bonkers. She used to swim in our pool, and shes a murderer. This is just so crazy. Every year or so i go down the rabbit hole again, and you made it easy this time!
She's actually my cousin! I only just looked up the details of the case because iw as out of state when it happened. I remember drawing on the sidewalk with chalk as lol kids, it's crazy now she's a whole Forensic Files episode
I was contacted by a penpal of Darlie Routier's who gave me some of the most recent advances in her case to share with you all. I began writing to Darlie in December of 2005 and she is one woman whom I will never understand how she got behind bars. Really. You know what else? With all the information ALREADY out there about this case, in addition to the newly discovered info, I think if you can't see this poor woman's innocence, you may just be an asshole. So many legal flubs, so much question and police innuendo that turned out to be nothing. So many fingers pointed and road blocks thrown up, I am surprised this case isn't used in other countries to point to the clusterfuck we call a justice system. I believe Darlie could have been released ages ago if the state had done the necessary DNA testing. Sadly, Texas has tried to stop it in every unconstitutional way they could pull out of a bull's ass. BUT- there is hope on the horizon. This from Camp Darlie
As human beings, we have trouble fathoming the idea of a young girl committing so atrocious a crime as murder. Much less, the murder of her own mother. The concept becomes even more inconceivable when it pertains to a beautiful young woman beautiful young woman with a loving family and the world at her fingertips. These girls aren't all women in prison now. Some have been released and disappeared into the mainstream. Scary, huh? Nakisha Waddell At age 14, Nakisha Waddell stabbed her mother, Vaughne Thomas, 43 times in their Virginia home. In court, she said she was tired of the years of fighting and just exploded. Her 15-year-old friend, Annie Belcher, helped her dig a grave in the backyard. The pair poured alcohol and nail polish remover on the dead woman and tried to ignite her to no avail. They eventually mixed a crude concrete mixture and poured it on top of her and finished by covering her with sticks, leaves, and yard debris. She gives no reason or excuse o
Brenda Andrew is the only woman on Oklahoma death row. She is there for the murder of her husband by her and her boyfriend James Pavatt. Brenda does not answer letters. It seems she may still have a bit of that pretentious attitude left over from her days as a respected deacons wife. Those days are over, hun. There is no scheduled execution date for Brenda yet. Oklahoma lists its dates of execution for the prison she is in here . Every time I read about this case I am utterly amazed at how stupid these two people were. She may as well have advertised their guilt on a billboard in front of the house. Both Andrew's and Pavatt's appeal were systematically denied without comment in 2008. The little Scorned episode "The Sunday School Killers" at the top of this post is about Brenda and James and its only $1.99 so its worth the money.
