Eileen Huber - California

I received a letter from Eileen Huber of California. Eileen is one of the infamous Mall Killers of the early 90's. Eileen, her boyfriend John Lewis, his half sister Robin Machuca and his friend Vincent Hubbard went on a kidnapping and killing spree at several California malls and ATM's. Eileen's introductory letter is filled with regret. She is the golden child of LWOP. Much like Karla Faye Tucker, Ms. Huber has used her time in prison as a placeholder, in the event that she ever is blessed with a second chance. Every penny she makes or receives is saved for classes toward her associate's degree. She spends most of her time alone, studying or working on her memoirs, which she plans to give away free to girls homes and juvenile facilities. "If I ever do get the chance to get out of here, I WILL NOT squander it." she wrote to me. "I want the world to know that just because I was a mixed up unloved little girl, I should never have allowed myself to go

I received a letter from Stacey Schoeck in Georgia. She is serving life without parole for the hired killing of her husband, Richard Schoeck, on Valentines Day 2010. She hired a fella  from her gym that was a friend of a friend, Reginald Coleman. They called him Mr . Results at the gym.  After planning the murder with Mr. Results, Stacey lured her husband to a remote area of a city park on the pretense of exchanging romantic Valentine cards. Instead of a hearts and flowers Richard got a bullet to the head.  Mr. Results That's what the state of Georgia said anyway. She says nothing of her crime in the letter. She only asks what I can offer her as an inmate liaison and how to obtain it. She thanks me for my services and leaves this one poignant line in the closing: "Life without parole is really a cruel and unusual sentence and I hope one day the people of Georgia will know that it is misused for purposes beyond the scope for which it was intended."

Marissa Devault - Arizona

Marissa Devault Sentenced To Life In Prison For Murdering Husband With Hammer PHOENIX (AP) — A jury on Wednesday spared the life of an Arizona woman convicted of beating her husband to death with a hammer, sentencing her to life in prison instead of the death penalty. The decision in the penalty phase of Marissa Devault's trial comes after the jury deliberated for about three days since April 22. Devault nodded when jurors were polled about their decision, and she hugged her attorneys before leaving the courtroom smiling. "We're happy with the decision they made, thank God," defense attorney Andrew Anderson Clemency said outside the courthouse. "They made a decision to spare a life." A judge scheduled a June 6 hearing where he will formally impose the sentence and decide whether she can be eligible for early release after 25 years.
