Mesa woman arrested, accused of first-degree murder

Judith Elaine Walthers was arrested Monday on suspicion of murdering a 54-year-old man in his apartment in early February, according to the Mesa Police Department.

Walthers, 20, was booked on suspicion of first-degree murder, burglary, trafficking in stolen property, tampering with evidence and theft of a means of transportation.

Mesa police investigators were called to the home of Kevin Worzalla on Feb. 4, after Worzalla’s family members asked officers to check on the man because they had not heard from him for a week, according to detective Steve Berry, a Mesa police spokesman.

Officers found Worzalla dead inside his apartment near McDowell and Recker roads, Berry said.

Police said there were signs of trauma to Worzalla’s body and his vehicle and other property were missing from the home.

Berry said detectives later discovered Walthers had been staying at Worzalla’s home.

Walthers had been seen driving Worzalla’s vehicle and was arrested for vehicle theft, police said. During interviews with investigators, Walthers did not confess to any involvement in the death of Worzalla, Berry said.

Berry said DNA from Walthers was found on “bloody items” at the crime scene and there was evidence that Walthers attempted to clean the crime scene.

Heather Birden Connecticut

Holly Aeschlimann Holly Aeschlimann, 19 was murdered in Connecticut in April of 2015. This case is amazingly close to that of Rachel Wade. Holly and her killer, Heather Birden, 20, had a longstanding dislike for each other. Heather had stabbed another girl, a juvenile, once before in 2014. She was held in Niantic Correctional Facility for next three months before the murder as a result of a violation of her probation, and was then released to an in-patient substance abuse rehabilitation facility. Reports state that Birden asked her boyfriend for his knife and then left his house to find Holly stating "I have to end this tonight." Witnesses say Heather arrived and the two began to fight, ending in Holly being stabbed in the head and neck at a crosswalk outside an apartment complex in Torrington, CT. Brenda Andrew is the only woman on Oklahoma death row. She is there for the murder of her husband by her and her boyfriend James Pavatt. Brenda does not answer letters. It seems she may still have a bit of that pretentious attitude left over from her days as a respected deacons wife. Those days are over, hun. There is no scheduled execution date for Brenda yet.
