As human beings, we have trouble fathoming the idea of a young girl committing so atrocious a crime as murder. Much less, the murder of her own mother. Great question. I definitely think that there is a double standard and even the physchologist chatting here mentions how there is a "locker room bravadoi- what is he complaining about?" when the issue is male student/ female teacher. I also think that society in general is harder on a male teacher who abuses a female student. Somehow it is viewed as less exceptable when, no matter the sex of the student or the perpetrator, both are suffering from abuse.
