Teresa Lewis was arrested for murder in the death of her husband, Julian Clifton Lewis, 51, and her stepson, Charles J. Lewis, 26, on Nov. 7, 2002[i] She was sentenced to death for the murder for hire on June 4, 2003. Lewis pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder after admitting that she hired two men to kill the two victims.
Julian Lewis and CJ Lewis were killed in their home near Danville, Virginia on October 30, 2002. Rodney Fuller and Matthew Shallenberger were subsequently sentenced to life in prison for killing the father and son.
Teresa Lewis is the only woman on Virginia’s death row and is housed separately from the male death row population, in a segregated wing at the Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women.
Teresa Lewis has been on death row since June 4, 2003. On March 5, 2004, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected the appeal by defense counsel.[ii]
